    Geography, History and Economy

    Area: 2 355km²
    Description: The Sakhisizwe Local Municipality is a Category B municipality situated within the Chris Hani District in the Eastern Cape Province. It is bordered by the Joe Gqabi District to the north, Intsika Yethu to the south, Engcobo to the east, and Emalahleni to the west.
     The municipality is the smallest of six in the district, making up 6% of its geographical area. Sakhisizwe is an isiXhosa name meaning ‘we are building the nation'.
